SANTA CLARA — John Lynch’s pre-draft press conference Monday revolved more so around the 49ers’ trade market. What is Trey Lance’s fate? Is Brandon Aiyuk staying put? Heck, what about Nick Bosa?Lynch’s most definitive answer came in shooting down the wild notion Bosa might be shopped, rather than being extended the NFL’s richest contract ever for a non-quarterback, with that deal expected in late July.“That hotline is closed. That never opened,” Lynch said of a Bosa trade.Lynch did not openly endorse trading away Lance or Aiyuk, nor did the 49ers’ general manager deny that a substantial offer could sway them to deal Lance, a still-raw quarterback who was drafted No. 3 overall in 2021.“There’s a lot of smoke, really. It hasn’t been extremely active,” Lynch said. “It’s not like we put it out there, ‘Hey, we’re taking offers for Trey. Call 1-800- … ’ That’s not been the process.“People’s job is to ask question...Woman identified after fatal wrong-way I-280 crash

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House said Monday the U.S. is trying to help thousands of Americans left behind in Sudan escape fighting in the east African nation, after the U.S. Embassy evacuated all of its diplomatic personnel over the weekend and shut down.President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, defended the decision not to keep U.S. forces or diplomats in Sudan to help its citizens evacuate as several other foreign nations were still doing Monday, and as the U.S. has done in some conflict zones in the past.Instead, Sullivan told reporters, the U.S. was now trying to remotely assist Americans trying to flee the country by road. That included helping Americans in Sudan link up with convoys of foreigners now attempting to make it through fighting toward safety on Sudan’s eastern border. LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Climate change, spurred by the burning of fossil fuels, is the biggest danger to marine life including whales, a panel of Democratic officials and environmental groups said Monday. The gathering, held in an oceanfront conference room as a half-dozen dolphins frolicked in the ocean behind them, also strongly criticized a bill in the House of Representatives containing numerous incentives for oil and gas companies, and which eliminates several environmental protections currently in effect. It also was a retort to opponents of offshore wind development, who claim that preparation for wind farms off New Jersey and New York are killing whales along the U.S. East Coast. Numerous federal and state agencies say there is no evidence that the deaths are related to offshore wind survey work. The event came a week after U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. and other New Jersey Congressional Democrats wrote to the White House Council on Environmental Quality “demanding real solution...Latest news
