NBA Draft: Four prospects Warriors could target with No. 19 pick

SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors are heading into Thursday’s NBA Draft in a different situation than they’ve had in recent years. After three years of peering into the future, Golden State is in win-now mode this time around as it looks to maximize the prime of its aging core and add another title to this era of Warriors basketball. The Warriors’ bench depth during last season’s underwhelming title defense proved to be shallow as they were bounced from the Western Conference playoffs in the second round. Given the team’s taut financial situation, though, one of the easiest avenues to add talent to its already pricy roster is through the draft. Outside of that, they can only sign players on minimum contracts in free agency. The Warriors opted to take on teenage projects in the last three drafts: James Wiseman at No. 2 in 2020, Jonathan Kuminga (No. 7) and Moses Moody (No. 14) in 2021, and Patrick Baldwin Jr. (No. 28) and Ryan Rollins (No. 44) in 2022. Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 09:23:32 GMT

A powerful, shapeshifting teenage girl and a disgraced knight-in-training suspected of killing a beloved queen are at the heart of “ Nimona,” a vibrant and irreverent animated adventure set in a futuristic fantasy kingdom. It is a familiar story — a society governed by ancient rules and a crippling fear of outsiders — even by recent Netflix animation standards (see “The Sea Beast”). But “Nimona” is wrapped in new, exciting packaging with a wildly fun soundtrack featuring the likes of Metric, Dope Saint Jude and Judas Priest, LGBTQ+ themes that aren’t clumsily subtle, and charismatic lead voice actors in Chloë Grace Moretz and Riz Ahmed. There’s also a supporting character named Ambrosius Goldenloin. Ambrosius. Goldenloin. He has blonde, swooped hair and is voiced by Eugene Lee Yang of The Try Guys. The fraught saga of getting “Nimona” to audiences could be its own epic movie. ND Stevenson’s popular graphic novel first went into development in 2015 at Blue Sky Studios and was inherited...

Summer is Here

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 09:23:32 GMT

We’re only hours into summer (the season just officially started) but the weather has actually been summerlike, in south Florida, for 3 months! It would be a valid point to suggest we “skipped over spring”. It wouldn’t be summer if it didn’t involve the daily chance for heavy rain and thunderstorms. As we round out the week, we face a solid threat for strong storms and potentially flooding rains. The reason? There’s a large low pressure disturbance (an upper low, high in the sky) that’s centered over the southeastern states. That’s helping spread tropical moisture across the region while creating instability storms. Interestingly, A huge Flood Watch has been issued all the way from North Carolina southward into parts of Florida. South Florida is not included in the advisory, which is in effect until Friday evening. Still, we could easily see heavy rain triggered, at times. Thursday’s storm timing will favor the afterno...
